A Clean Window

Before we actually say anything about transporting windows, we have to mention how annoying it is for customers to receive dirty products. It's important to remember to clean the windows before packing so there won’t be any stains or fingerprints on the glass.

What to avoid?

You could consider avoiding just using stretch foil. Why? Well, if anyone ever wanted to check what you are transporting they would have to cut the stretch foil in order to have easy access to the product. Any sharp knife can seriously damage the glass of the window which, for PVC roof windows or any other type of window, is not a small cost. We should also mention that it’s important to avoid loose elements, e.g. screws because they may be the cause of scratches and damage

Should windows be placed on stands?

The basic rule of picking a stand to transport a window says that the stand must be bigger than the windows because the straps must be tied down to the ramp. Why the ramp, not the window? We want to avoid glass tension in order for the window not to get damaged. Roof windows may be smaller than normal windows, which is why picking the correct stand is very important, because the window may not lean on it correctly.

Of course, you don't have to use a stand to transport a window. However, you may be risking a lot. If the window moves around while the vehicle is in motion, it may break.

How should the windows be laid out on the semi-trailer?

Windows on stands must be set along the semi-trailer. This way, we can prevent the damage that may be caused during hard braking. Also, it’s important to remember that the stands cannot be put back-to-back to each other, in order to avoid any additional damage.

Other things you should keep in mind

Keep in mind that it’s better to ask for help someone that has experience in transporting windows or, if you do not have that option and you don’t feel certain about doing it yourself, to have a transporting company do it.

Also, it’s best not to choose a company that works on behalf of a transporting company, because that way you lose control over the quality of the transport and the security.
